INTENDED USE

Pre-titrated Reagent Kit for human MCP-1 contains calibrated MCP-1 standards and pre-titrated capture and detection antibodies for quantitative measurement of human MCP-1 in biological samples by enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA). An assay protocol is provided with the kit to use the reagents in 96-well ELISA format. It is recommended to dilute all reagents according to this manual. The lyophilized standards have been calibrated against WHO reference material to ensure accuracy and consistence of test results. The reagents can also be used with 384-well ELISA plate and optimized for use in other type of immunoassays.

Background

Monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCAF) is also called monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) and chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2). It is primarily secreted by monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. This cytokine displayed chemotactic activity for monocytes, T-cells, and basophils, but not for neutrophils or eosinophils. MCAF causes the degranulation of basophils and mast cells, and augments the activity of monocyte and macrophage. MCAF plays an important role in inflammation, angiogenesis, auto-immune diseases, renal diseases, chronic infection and granuloma formation.
